Overview
The Timbren Front Axle SES Suspension Upgrade, part number T/IGMFK15A, uses hollow rubber springs on the front suspension. It fits the front end of Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickup trucks.
The springs use a progressive spring rate. As more weight presses down, such as a snowplow or a heavy steel bumper, the springs work harder to limit front-end sag.
Key features
- Hollow rubber springs with a progressive spring rate
- Resists front-end sag under added weight such as a snowplow
- Front application only
- Built for Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickups
Front suspension and load
Hollow rubber springs act as the front load carrier, so they affect steering weight and front-end height more than a shock absorber alone. When a plow or steel bumper adds weight, the rubber compresses further as the load increases, which helps resist nose-down sag. Because rubber can take a set over time, check front ride height after a season of heavy use and compare it with the opposite side.
Front-end work often involves related parts such as shocks, ball joints and tie rod ends, and they should be inspected at the same time. Look for cracked rubber, oil or grease on the spring, and uneven height side to side. Heavier front accessories can also change alignment, so a check after installation helps keep tire wear even.
