Overview
The Poison Spyder Heavy Duty Header Bar Kit, part number 14-18-030, is a set of weld-in header bars for the 2002–2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ and LJ. It is designed as an upgrade to the stock header bars when a Trail Cage is installed.
Poison Spyder makes the header bars from 1-3/4 inch by .120 wall DOM structural tubing. The tubing is laser notched and welded to 3/16 inch CNC laser cut mount plates. The company gives the DOM tubing a yield strength of 70,000 psi. The stock header bars are thin-wall tubing that mainly braces the windshield. Poison Spyder compares the DOM tubing with the stock bars, which it describes as .095 wall welded seam tubing with thin stamped mounting flanges.
The kit works with the factory roll bar and the Poison Spyder Trail Cage Kit. Paired with the cage, it provides the strength of a heavy duty cage rather than only windshield bracing. It can also be installed without a cage, or with another brand’s add-on cage kit.

Cage planning and weld quality
Header bars link the windshield frame to the roll bar, so they carry load during rollovers and hard impacts. Weld quality decides how much of that load they can take. Clean the surfaces, fit the mount plates square, and have each weld checked for full penetration before the vehicle is used off road.
Bare steel bars will show surface rust over time, so consider paint or a protective coating after welding. If a cage is added later, plan the bar layout so the cage tubes and header bars meet at good angles. Recheck the roll bar and mounting bolts after the first few trail runs, and look for cracks near welds.

Vehicle fitment
The kit fits 2002–2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ and 2004–2006 Wrangler LJ. Other Wrangler generations, including the YJ, JK and JL, are not covered.
