Overview
The Poison Spyder Trail Cage, bare steel, part number 14-18-010, is an eight-piece add-on cage for Jeep TJ and LJ owners who already have the factory roll bar. The cage is written for the Jeep TJ and LJ, so it extends the existing roll bar into a full roll cage instead of replacing it. Welding is required, and the kit works with factory and aftermarket soft tops.
The kit includes two lower A-pillars that run from the dash to the floor, two tubular upper A-pillars that are welded to the factory windshield bars, a dash bar, an upper windshield bar and two center spreaders. The center spreaders can be located in several positions, which lets the cage fit the vehicle around its existing bars.

Cage fit and roof clearance
An add-on cage extends an existing roll bar, so it depends on the factory structure. Before work starts, check that the factory bar is solid and that its mounts are not cracked. The cage relies on those mounts, so any weak point in the factory bar becomes a weak point in the cage. Fit the dash and windshield bars so they clear the body and the instrument panel.
Center spreaders are adjustable, so plan their positions with the seats and passengers in mind. Test-fit the full cage before welding, and confirm that the doors and seat belts still work with the new bars in place. After installation, inspect the welds at the windshield and A-pillar joints, and check the mounting points after rough use.

Installation notes
The kit comes disassembled and requires welding. The cage is secured at the windshield, at the front gusseted A-pillar, at the factory mounts on the door jamb and at the floor through the forward drain hole. The Heavy Duty Header Bar Kit, part number PSC14-18-030, can replace the factory header bars.
