Overview
The Poison Spyder 17-03-030-ALUM is a pair of standard width aluminum front crusher flares for the Jeep Wrangler JK. Poison Spyder builds them from 1.5 inch x .188 wall annealed aluminum structural tubing as the outer rub rail, which the company says is thicker than the .120 wall tubing used on many competing aluminum flares.
The foundation of each flare is a CNC laser cut 3/16-inch aluminum mounting plate, brake-formed to match the subtle curves of the JK body panels. The mounting holes are countersunk for flat-head stainless steel hardware. The top plate is CNC laser cut from 1/8-inch aluminum and hand formed around the flare to follow the JK’s body lines.
Every set includes a set of inner braces. Competing JK flares bolt straight to the thin outer sheet metal, which can deform on impact. The inner brace set bypasses that sheet metal and carries the force into the heavier steel of the JK’s inner body tub.
