U-bolt mounting basics
U-bolt style yokes clamp to the pinion shaft using U-bolts that pass around the pinion flange area and draw it against the yoke. The clamping force depends on the U-bolts, nuts and their torque, so a loose or stretched U-bolt can allow the yoke to slip under load. Because of this, the fasteners should be checked after the first few runs and periodically after that.
This yoke is forged for strength, but the driveline is only as secure as its hardware. Choose U-bolts that match the yoke and kit sizing, use the correct nuts, and confirm the clearance between the U-bolts and nearby parts such as the axle housing. When the yoke is replaced, inspect the pinion shaft threads and splines, since worn threads can affect how the nut holds torque. A driveline shop can check driveline angle and balance after a change.
