Description

Overview

The TeraFlex HD Skid Plate for Rear Falcon Shocks, part number TER36-07-01-300 (36-07-01-300), is a heavy-duty 1/4″ cold rolled steel shock skid for the rear Falcon piggyback shocks on the 2007–2018 Jeep Wrangler (JK) and JKU.

The heavy-duty skid plates are made from 1/4 inch cold rolled steel and are sold for the rear Falcon piggyback shocks. The Falcon shocks use hard anodized 6061-T6 aluminum. The plates are left raw, so they can be welded on for more strength or painted to match the vehicle, though welding is not required. The Eco-Guard mounting hardware has passed a 1,000-hour salt spray corrosion test.

Key features

  • Heavy-duty rear shock skid plates for the Wrangler JK and JKU
  • Constructed from 1/4″ cold rolled steel
  • Designed for the TeraFlex Falcon piggyback shocks
  • Can be welded on for more strength, but welding is not required
  • Eco-Guard mounting hardware survived the 1,000-hour salt spray corrosion test
  • Bolt-on installation with no cutting or drilling required

Skid protection on the trail

A rear shock skid guards the lower shock body and mount from rocks, stumps and ledges. Piggyback shocks have a reservoir hose and a larger body, which makes them more exposed than a standard shock. A steel plate spreads an impact across the mount instead of letting it land on a single point, and it keeps the shock from being pushed out of position during rough articulation.

Check the plate after each trail run. Look for bent edges, cracked welds if the plate is welded, and loose bolts. Recheck the hardware after the first few trips, since trail vibration can back bolts out. When a plate is painted or coated, keep the mounting faces clear so the plate seats flat against the body and does not hold moisture against the steel.

  • Inspect the shock reservoir hose for rubbing
  • Check the plate for bends after rock crawling
  • Keep mounting faces clean and dry
  • Replace hardware that shows corrosion

Questions & Answers

What Jeep does the TeraFlex 36-07-01-300 shock skid fit?

It fits the 2007–2018 Jeep Wrangler JK and JKU, and the part number TER36-07-01-300 is designed for TeraFlex Falcon rear shocks on those models. Confirm your year, model and trim match the JK before ordering.

Do the TeraFlex HD skid plates need welding?

No. The plates are left raw, so welding is optional for owners who want extra strength. Welding is not required, and the plates bolt on with no cutting or drilling.

What are the TeraFlex HD rear shock skids made of?

They are made from 1/4 inch cold rolled steel. The Falcon shocks they protect use hard anodized 6061-T6 aluminum, and the Eco-Guard hardware is designed to resist corrosion.

Do these skid plates fit shocks other than Falcon?

These skids are designed for TeraFlex Falcon rear shocks. Confirm fit for any other shock before ordering, since the plates are sized for the Falcon piggyback design.

How do I tell if a shock skid is damaged?

Look for bends, cracks at the welds or edges, and mounting holes that have elongated. If the plate has shifted or a shock mount looks loose, stop and inspect before continuing on the trail. Replacing a bent plate is safer than straightening one under load.
