Description

Overview

The Rubicon Express RE1689 is a heavy-duty forged, adjustable front track bar for listed Jeep Wrangler JK and JL and Jeep Gladiator (JT) models. Its lift height range is 0 to 8 in.

Rubicon Express designed the track bar to eliminate deflection caused by oversized tires or extreme side loads. It is built from heat-treated steel and uses OE-style bushings to optimize handling and control.

Key features

  • Forged, heat-treated steel construction
  • Designed to limit deflection from oversized tires or extreme side loads
  • Adjustable sleeved collar for axle alignment
  • OE-style bushings for handling and control
  • Front location; direct fit
  • Lift height range of 0 to 8 in

Track bar setup and wear

A front track bar locates the axle side to side, so it governs how the front end stays centered under load. Heavier tires and a taller stance put more side force through the bar and its bushings, which is why a sturdy bar with firm bushings matters on lifted work. When the bar is adjusted, the goal is to center the axle so the steering stays neutral.

Check the bushings and pivot ends at regular service intervals. Cracked rubber, a clunk over bumps or steering that wanders can signal wear. Replacing a worn bar or bushing restores axle position, and it is worth checking the alignment afterward because the front wheels can drift out of spec.

  • Look for play at the axle-end pivot
  • Check bushings for cracking or tearing
  • Confirm the axle is centered after any adjustment
  • Recheck alignment after the first few drives

Questions & Answers

Will the RE1689 fit a 2019 Jeep Wrangler JL?

Yes. It fits 2018–2022 Jeep Wrangler JL models in both 2-door and 4-door bodies, which includes 2019. Confirm your exact model and trim before ordering.

Will this track bar fit a Jeep TJ?

No. The list covers 2007–2018 Wrangler JK, 2018–2022 Wrangler JL and 2020–2022 Gladiator models, and it does not include the TJ.

Does the RE1689 adjust the axle alignment?

Yes. An adjustable sleeved collar lets you set axle alignment while the track bar stays on the vehicle, so the suspension does not need to be taken apart.

Should the track bar be checked when a steering stabilizer is added?

Yes. A stabilizer and a track bar both affect steering control, so inspect the track bar ends and bushings when adding one. Worn bushings can allow play that makes a stabilizer less effective.
