Overview
The Rubicon Express RE1660 is an adjustable Extreme-Duty front track bar for the 1984–2001 Jeep Cherokee (XJ) and the 1993–1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee (ZJ). It is designed for lifts between 4 and 6 inches and requires the RE1665 bracket.
The bar has a super-flex joint on one end for articulation and durability, and it offers length adjustability for setting the bar on a lift. It is finished in gray powder coat.

Setting up the track bar
A track bar keeps the front axle centered under the body as the suspension moves up and down. When a lift raises the body, the bar’s angle changes, and an adjustable bar lets you set its length so the axle stays centered at the new height. Correct length reduces steering wander and uneven tire wear. Measure the bar after the lift is installed, since the original length no longer fits the new geometry.
Because the track bar links the axle to the frame, it is often replaced along with other steering and suspension parts during a lift. Inspect the bushings, bolts and mounting points when the bar is off the vehicle. Look for cracked welds, bent tube sections and play at the joints. Tighten hardware to the torque values in your installation instructions and recheck it after the first few drives.

Vehicle fitment
It is a direct fit for the 1984–2001 Jeep Cherokee (XJ) and the 1993–1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee (ZJ).
It is for the XJ and ZJ chassis only. The TJ Wrangler and the WJ Grand Cherokee are not covered. Confirm your vehicle’s year, model and trim before ordering.
Installation notes
On the XJ, the lower track bar mount must be re-drilled before installation. The bar requires the RE1665 bracket, so confirm you have that bracket before starting the job.
