Before you mount the blocks
Rear lift blocks sit between the axle and the leaf springs, so they change the angle the axle hangs at and the position of the springs. Owners often choose a modest lift like this to gain tire clearance without rebuilding the suspension. Once the axle moves up, brake lines, bump stops and rear shock mounts all need a look.
Non-tapered blocks have parallel faces, so the driveshaft angle change depends on the vehicle’s existing geometry rather than on the block shape. Measure the angle before and after installation and decide whether a driveshaft correction is needed. Many owners replace the U-bolts at the same time, since the old ones were sized for the original spring position.
Tighten all hardware to the torque in the installation instructions, then re-check the nuts after the first few drives. Inspect the aluminum faces for gouges or cracks during routine service.
