Overview
The Icon Suspension Billet Aluminum Uniball Upper Control Arm Kit, part number 58550, is a set of upper control arms for the 2005–2017 Toyota Tacoma. Icon Vehicle Dynamics designed these 6061 billet aluminum arms to replace the factory upper arms and their ball joints, which Icon says can limit suspension travel on Tacomas used on or off road.
Each arm uses 1 inch PTFE lined stainless uniballs on a 17-4 stainless taper pin adapter. That pairing increases the upper arm’s misalignment range, so the suspension can move through bump and droop without factory ball joint bind. The rod ends adjust while the arms stay on the truck, which lets you set wheel alignment without removing them. Icon suggests pairing the kit with its 2.5 extended travel coil over shocks to make the most of the added travel.
An O-ring sealed cover cap sits over each uniball to keep dirt and weather out. Grit that collects on an open uniball can tear the PTFE liner and shorten the joint’s life, so the cap protects that liner.

Billet arms and joint wear
Billet aluminum arms are machined from solid stock rather than tubing, which gives them a dense, rigid body with clean machined surfaces. Because the arms carry the wheel’s upper load, the joint at each end matters as much as the arm itself. The uniball and its PTFE liner take the articulation, so grit and moisture are the main threats to how long the joint stays smooth.
Inspect the joints at regular service intervals, and check the O-ring sealed cover caps for cracks or lost seals. Pull the cap and look at the liner when the joint feels rough. If the old arms are coming off, clean the mounting faces so the new arm seats squarely. Recheck the pinch bolts and alignment after the first few drives on a rough road.

Vehicle fitment
It is a direct fit for 2005–2017 Toyota Tacoma trucks in the Base, Limited, Pre Runner, SR, SR5, TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro, TRD Sport and X-Runner trims.
Tacoma model years outside 2005–2017 and all Toyota Tundra models are not covered. Before ordering, check that your year, model and trim are covered.
Installation notes
Set each arm by loosening the pinch bolts, adjusting to the length you need, and retightening the pinch bolts. Because the arms change wheel alignment, have the alignment checked once the adjustment is final.
