Overview
The G2 Axle and Gear 68-2051-1 is a top truss for the front Dana 44 axle on the Jeep Wrangler JK. It is part of the G2 Heavy Duty JK Rubicon Front Dana 44 axle truss and armor system, and it fits the JK from 2007 through 2018, in two-door and four-door models.
The truss is made from 1/4-inch thick main components and 1/8-inch thick reinforcement plates. The design adds strength across the whole axle, not only the long tube, while keeping the weight low. The parts are laser cut so they fit together for installation.
Welding is required, including to the cast center section. G2 strongly recommends professional welding skills, and the system is designed for US-spec vehicles.

Before you weld
A top truss adds a brace across the upper part of the front axle housing. Its job is to resist flex under load and when the axle is pushed hard on rough ground. Because the truss is a structural part, the mounting points, the cast center section and the surrounding tubes should be inspected for cracks or prior repairs before any cutting or welding starts.
Plan the install as a fabrication job. Fit the parts dry, check clearances against the tires, steering and driveshaft, and confirm the axle is square before the first weld. Clean the metal to bare steel where welds will sit, and let the work cool between passes so the frame and axle do not distort. After the first few trail outings, recheck the welds and mounting hardware for cracks.
