Fuel tank replacement tips
A rear fuel tank is held by straps and connected by a filler neck, a vent line and a supply line to the engine. Before removing the old tank, drain as much fuel as practical and disconnect the battery. Note the position of each hose and fitting so the new tank can be connected correctly without guessing.
Rust and debris are common concerns when a tank is replaced. Inspect the straps, the filler neck clamp and the mounting points for corrosion, and replace any worn parts before reinstalling. After installation, check every fitting for leaks and smell the area before returning the vehicle to regular use.
