Description

Overview

The G2 Axle and Gear CORE 44 front axle assembly with a 5.13 ratio and an Auburn Ected locker (part C4TSFS513MC0) is for 1997–2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ and LJ models and 1984–2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ models. The axle uses an Auburn Ected locker, and the 5.13 ratio is set for that locker.

The housing uses a new design with a high pinion Dana 44 gear layout, built to carry heavy loads that would bend a stock Dana 30 or Rubicon Dana 44. It takes stock Dana 44 ring and pinions, axle shafts and aftermarket lockers, and it reuses the factory brakes.

Key features

  • High pinion Dana 44 gear layout in a new housing
  • Auburn Ected locker
  • Accepts stock Dana 44 ring and pinions, axle shafts and aftermarket lockers
  • 30-spline axle spline
  • Designed for heavy loads, per G2
  • Reuses factory brakes

Living with a locker axle

A locker changes how the axle behaves. With an Auburn Ected locker, both wheels turn together when one side loses grip, which helps on rocks, mud and loose ground. On dry pavement the same lock can push the vehicle straight through turns, so it is worth getting used to the feel in a parking lot before driving on the road.

Because the ring and pinion carries the load, it is the first part to show wear. Watch for oil seepage at the axle seals, metal flakes in the gear oil, and a whine or clunk that changes with speed or throttle. Any of these signs means the axle should be inspected before it sees more use.

  • Inspect the axle seals after each hard trail day
  • Check the locker engages cleanly before each trip
  • Re-check cover bolts after the first few trail runs

Questions & Answers

Does this Auburn Ected 5.13 axle fit a 1997–2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ?

Yes. It fits 1997–2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ and LJ models, with the Dana 44 housing and Auburn Ected locker in place. Check your vehicle's year, model and trim against this fitment before ordering.

What traction device does this axle use?

An Auburn Ected locker, paired with a 5.13 gear ratio. The axle has 30 splines and is listed with reuse factory brakes, so the stock brake parts stay in use.

Does the housing accept stock Dana 44 parts?

Yes. The housing accepts stock Dana 44 ring and pinions, axle shafts and aftermarket lockers, so stock internals can be carried over when the axle is built. Have the gear set and locker set up by a qualified shop.

Is this axle for XJ Cherokees too?

Yes. It fits 1984–2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ models along with the TJ and LJ Wranglers. Confirm fit for your vehicle's year, model and trim before ordering, since XJ owners should check their specific year.

How often should a Dana 44 gear set and locker be inspected?

Inspect the gear set and locker after the first few trail runs, then at regular service intervals. Watch for oil seepage at the seals, metal in the gear oil, and whine or clunking that changes with speed. Early checks keep small wear from becoming costly damage.
