Overview
The G2 JK CORE 44 high pinion front axle with a 5.13 ratio and ARB Air Locker is a complete front Dana 44 axle for 2007 and up Jeep Wrangler JK models. Its housing has extra caster built in for lifts of 6 inches and up, which helps keep pinion angles right.
G2 pairs a new generation 8.8-inch JK 44 ring and pinion, with a larger pinion shaft, with USA made 4340 Chromalloy 1.5 inch, 35 spline Placer axle shafts. The assembly is built to handle loads that would bend a stock Dana 30 or a Rubicon Dana 44.
G2 braces the housing with 1/4 inch laser cut brackets and 3 inch diameter, 5/16 inch DOM tubes, and it uses metric Rubicon style carrier bearings. Spanner nuts handle backlash adjustment, and the heat-treated aluminum differential cover has cooling fins.
Key features
- 5.13 gear ratio with ARB Air Locker
- USA made 4340 Chromalloy 1.5 inch, 35 spline Placer axle shafts
- Heavy duty Dana Spicer 5-7166X axle U-joints and a factory style flange pinion yoke
- Forged inner C-ends with skid plates on the lower control arm mounts
- Heavy duty 3 inch diameter, 5/16 inch DOM tubes with reinforcing ribs
- Metric Rubicon style carrier bearings and heavy duty forged bearing caps
Caster and alignment after a lift
Caster is the forward tilt of the steering axis, and it controls how the front wheels return to center. Lifts change the angle of the control arms and can reduce caster, so the extra built-in caster in a high-lift axle helps keep the steering stable. Plan an alignment after any lift, even when the axle housing is already set.
Pinion angle is the other critical setting on a lifted Jeep. When the axle sits higher, the pinion angle changes relative to the driveshaft, which can cause vibration at speed. Check the driveshaft angles after the swap and adjust with the lift’s control arms or driveshaft as needed.
Locker use off road is easier when the axle is set up correctly. An air locker needs a clean air supply and a reliable connection, so route the lines away from moving parts. Inspect the U-joints and axle shaft seals on a regular schedule, especially after rock crawling or deep water runs.
- Set caster and pinion angle together
- Check air line routing before first trail use

Vehicle fitment
This is a front axle for 2007 and up Jeep Wrangler JK models, which covers the 2007-2018 Wrangler JK model years. It is made for the front position only, not the rear JK.
It is not made for the Wrangler (JL) or the Gladiator (JT). Confirm your vehicle’s year, model and trim before ordering.
Installation notes
This is a front axle swap, so plan for alignment and driveline angle checks afterward. The extra caster is meant for lifts of 6 inches and up.
What’s included
The assembly includes the ARB Air Locker, the 35 spline Placer axle shafts and the Dana Spicer 5-7166X axle U-joints.
