Overview
The Artec RE1402R is a 7/8 inch wide rod end kit, also called a heim joint, with a right-hand thread. It pairs a 7/8-14 Chromoly rod end with 3/4 inch bore with wide stainless steel spacers for a 2.63 inch mounting width.
The rod end is made by Midwest Control Products Corp under the MXM series. It is a budget option for builders who need a rod end in suspension or steering applications.
Key features
- Chromoly body with polished chrome finish
- Hard chrome polished bearing steel ball
- Injection molded nylon race
- Two wide high misalignment spacers
- Tube adapter for 1.0 ID to 1.5 OD tubing
Wide spacers and clearance
Wide spacers move the joint outward on the mount, which changes how the link sits relative to the bracket and the tire. Clearance is the first thing to check, since a wider mounting width can rub on brake lines, frame rails or the tire at full travel. Measure the gap on both sides of the joint with the suspension at ride height and again at full articulation.
Use the spacers as a matched pair so the joint stays centered, and keep the spacer faces clean so they seat evenly. Tighten the jam nut only after the width and thread direction are confirmed. After the first few trips, check the nut for loosening and the joint for play, since a wide mount moves more under load.

Vehicle fitment
It is a generic right-hand rod end for suspension or steering builds. The width, thread and tubing size decide whether it suits your build, so match those to your project before ordering.
Check the mounting width and hole size against your joint before ordering.
Installation notes
Check the spacer width and the thread direction before assembling. Because the mounting width changes with the wide spacers, confirm clearance at the mount before tightening the jam nut.
What’s included
One 7/8 inch rod end, one jam nut, one wrench flat tube adapter for 1.0 ID to 1.5 OD tubing, and two stainless steel 9/16 to 3/4 inch wide high misalignment spacers.
