Body panel fit and finish
A replacement fender sits between the hood, the headlight area and the door, so small alignment errors show quickly. Hang the panel loosely, set the gaps with the hood closed, and only then snug the bolts. Bare steel rusts fast on the inner edges, so prime those areas before the final coat.
Fenders also carry the wiring for the front lights and the marker lamps on many trucks. Disconnect the original harness carefully, label each connector, and keep the old hardware in order so it can be reused if the new part needs a second fit.
- Dry-fit the panel before painting
- Set gaps with the hood and door closed
- Prime bare steel on inner edges
- Label connectors when removing the old fender

Installation notes
Test-fit body panels before tightening or painting. A professional installer is the safer choice where the part affects structure or safety. Tighten all fasteners to the torque values for your vehicle, and re-check them after the first miles of driving and again after off-road use. Check that doors, hood and lights still operate freely once the part is fitted.
Test-fit the fender before final tightening so the gaps with the hood, door and cowl are even. Replacement steel body parts may need paint or primer for corrosion protection, so check the finish on arrival and protect any bare steel promptly. Disconnect and reconnect any lights or wiring attached to the original fender carefully, and keep the original hardware in order for reinstallation.
