Overview
The Hella 8560 LED step/courtesy lamp, part number 998560001, is an LED replacement lamp for step or courtesy lighting, with a white lens and chrome cap.
Replacing a step or courtesy lamp
A step or courtesy lamp lights the area around the door and the step, so a dead lamp can be a safety issue at night. Before fitting, confirm whether you are replacing a step lamp or a courtesy lamp, since their housings differ. LED lamps are often sensitive to polarity, so check the connector orientation before reconnecting.
Clean the lens and housing before fitting the new lamp, since dirt and moisture can make an LED lamp look dim. Lamps mounted in door sills or under the body can collect road grime, so wipe the area and check the seal. A lamp that flickers may have a loose connection, a worn wire or a switch fault, so check those before replacing the lamp again.
- Confirm step versus courtesy lamp type
- Check connector polarity
- Clean the lens and housing
- Test the lamp before refitting trim
