Overview
The Edelbrock E-Force Supercharger Stage 1 Street Kit with Tuner, part number 1527, is a bolt-on supercharger system for the 3.6L V6 in the 2012-2017 Jeep Wrangler JK. It is Edelbrock’s first supercharger designed for a V6 engine, and the kit includes an electronic PCM programming module for application-specific tuning.
The system uses a smaller Eaton 1320 TVS rotor assembly, which Edelbrock says gives a compact package with good efficiency compared with some of its V8 E-Force applications. The stated goal is more torque for towing and off-road driving, while Edelbrock says daily driving manners are retained. In dyno testing Edelbrock reports 303 hp and 262 ft-lbs of torque at the rear wheels, an increase of 96 hp and 61 ft-lbs.
Key features
- Eaton Gen VI 1320 TVS rotor assembly in a compact design
- Dual pass intercooler for reduced intake air temperature
- Self-contained oil system with a 100,000 mile service interval
- Integrated bypass valve for minimal decrease in fuel economy
- Electronic PCM programming module with application-specific tuning
- Emissions legal Stage 1 calibration, 50 State Legal under CARB E.O. D-215-91
- Access to the OEM oil filter for straightforward filter changes
- Black powder coating, machined accents and an aluminum badge
Tuning and driving changes
A supercharger adds air pressure to the intake, so the engine burns more fuel per cycle and needs the fuel system and spark timing to match. The PCM programming module adjusts those settings for the added airflow. Owners should expect a change in throttle response and in how the engine handles heat, especially in stop and go traffic or on long grades while towing.
Supercharger systems are usually part of a larger setup. Tire size, gearing, cooling capacity and exhaust flow all affect how the added torque feels. Keep the air filter clean, check the intake for leaks after installation, and watch for changes in idle or fuel trims. Spark plugs and the drive belt are often inspected when the system goes in, so they are worth checking at the same time.
- Check intake couplings and clamps after the first drives
- Look for oil seepage around the supercharger housing
- Monitor coolant temperature on long hauls
- Keep records of any tuning changes
