Overview
The Dana Spicer 3-4-5731-1x is a 1350 series strap and bolt pinion yoke, designed as a stock replacement for Dana 60 and Dana 70 differentials. A pinion yoke connects the U-joint to the pinion gear.
It is universal fit for front and rear Dana 60, Dana 61 and Dana 70 axle types. Yokes from this maker come in several popular styles, which helps when a worn yoke needs repair or an upgrade.
Key features
- 29 spline connection
- Strap and bolt design
- 22.5 degree joint angle
- Stock replacement design
Stock replacement and joint angle
A stock replacement yoke is intended to match the original part in fit and function, so the first step is checking the spline count, hub diameter and joint angle against the removed yoke. Joint angle affects driveline vibration and U-joint life, and a change in angle can shift the driveshaft working angle at the transfer case or pinion. Measure before ordering whenever possible.
Strap and bolt yokes clamp to the pinion shaft, so the straps, bolts and pinion nut should be torqued evenly and rechecked after the first drives. Inspect the yoke sealing surface and the pinion seal, since a worn surface can cause leaks. When the yoke is replaced, the U-joint is commonly replaced at the same time to avoid mixing old and new wear patterns in the driveline.
