Big cup yoke fitment checks
The 1330 Big Cup Series uses a larger U-joint cup than many other yokes in the Dana 30 and Dana 44 family, so the cup size is the first thing to check. A cup that does not match will not hold the joint square, and the bearing caps will not seat. Measuring the old cup and comparing it with the new yoke takes little time and avoids a second tear-down.
U-bolt style retainers clamp the yoke onto the pinion differently from strap designs, so keep the retainer hardware with the old yoke for comparison. Inspect the pinion splines and seal surface for wear, since a worn spline will cause the new yoke to loosen over time. Replace the pinion seal when the yoke comes off, and fit new U-joint caps.
