Overview
The Trail Gear 140007-1-KIT is a wheel bearing kit with inner and outer bearings, hub gaskets, an inner wheel bearing seal and a star lock washer. Each kit services one side only.
Each kit covers one side of the axle, so a job on both sides needs two kits. Confirm the bearing size for your axle before starting.

Before you start the job
Wheel bearing work is easier when the hub, spindle and seal surfaces are clean before anything new goes in. Remove the old bearings and seal, then inspect the spindle for scoring, pitting or heat discoloration. A worn spindle will wear a new bearing quickly, and a rough surface can damage a new seal. Clean the hub bore and check the star lock washer for distortion before reassembly.
Bearing preload matters on any hub. Tighten the adjustment to the procedure for your vehicle, then check that the hub turns freely without play. Pack the bearings with a suitable grease and keep the seal lips free of dirt. Replacing the inner seal at the same time as the bearings keeps the job efficient, since the seal is the part most likely to leak after the hub is reassembled.
