Description

Overview

The Rubicon Express JL7141M is a 1.5 inch to 2.5 inch standard lift kit with monotube shocks for the 2018–2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (JL), four-door models. It uses coil springs at the rear and includes monotube shocks at the front and rear.

The system is designed to clear 35-inch tires on a loaded non-Rubicon model and 37-inch tires on a Rubicon model. It fits the Unlimited Moab, Rubicon, Sahara, Sport and Sport S.

Key features

  • Monotube shocks at the front and rear
  • Coil spring lift at the rear
  • Lift height range of 0 to 3.5 inches
  • Designed for 35-inch tires, and 37-inch tires on Rubicon models
  • The kit provides a suspension lift of 1.5 to 2 inches.

Coil spring lifts and monotube shocks

Monotube shocks use a single tube with a piston that moves through the fluid, a common design for shocks that need to keep a steady feel over repeated bumps. On a lifted vehicle the shock length and angle change, so the shock mounts and bushings carry more load than on a stock setup. Inspect the shock bodies for oil seepage and check that the mounting hardware is still tight after installation.

A coil spring lift also changes how weight sits over each axle, which can affect braking and steering feel. Tires and wheel offset are often replaced at the same time, and a lift may call for a new alignment before the tires wear unevenly. Keep tire pressure correct and rotate the tires on schedule, since uneven wear is one of the first signs that the geometry needs attention.

Questions & Answers

Does the JL7141M fit a 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon?

Yes. It fits the Unlimited Rubicon four-door in the 2018–2022 JL range, which covers 2020 models. The kit is made for the Unlimited Rubicon in four-door form, so a 2020 Unlimited Rubicon is covered.

Does the JL7141M fit a two-door Jeep Wrangler JL?

No. It fits Unlimited four-door models only, so two-door JL Wranglers are not covered by this kit. Check your body style and year before ordering, and confirm your trim is one this kit covers.

What shocks come with the JL7141M?

Monotube shocks are fitted at both the front and rear, and shocks are included with the kit, so no separate shocks are needed for the lift.

How do I know if the shocks need replacing?

Look for oil on the shock bodies, a bouncy ride that does not settle after a bump, or uneven tire wear. Any of these signs suggests the shocks are worn and should be inspected before the next trip off road.
