Overview
The Rough Country winch mounting plate, part number R/C1162, lets you mount a standard-sized winch to a factory Jeep Wrangler JK bumper. It fits 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK vehicles in 2-door and Unlimited 4-door models. It is sold without a D-ring kit.
The 1/4in steel plate mounts directly to the frame and is powder coated black. It accommodates all standard-sized winches and installs as a bolt-on upgrade. It is made for standard factory bumpers only.

Before you start the install
A winch mounting plate for a factory bumper changes how the front end works under load, so the install should be planned around the mount and the winch. Check the frame mounting points and bumper bolts before beginning, and make sure the hardware is clean and undamaged. On 2012-2016 models, the brake pump canister must be moved before the plate goes on, so have the relocation bracket ready. Work on a level surface with the vehicle securely supported.
Once mounted, the plate needs the same care as any winch mount. Check the bolts after the first few off-road outings, and look for cracks or movement around the frame attachment. Keep the winch cable clean and spooled evenly, and replace the cable if it shows kinks or broken strands. Store the winch and cable dry when not in use to slow corrosion.

Confirm fit for your vehicle’s year, model and trim before ordering, especially if you own a 2018-2022 Wrangler JL, a 2020-2022 Gladiator or an earlier Wrangler generation.
Installation notes
Installation is bolt-on to the frame. On 2012-2016 models, the brake pump canister must be relocated with bracket #1043, which is a separate part, so have it on hand before starting.
