Overview
The Rough Country hidden winch plate, part number R/C11002, is a recovery mount for 1999-2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickups. It sits recessed into the bumper so the winch looks like factory equipment. It also fits the 2007 GMC Sierra 1500 Classic.
The plate fits most standard size winches up to 12,000 lbs and does not block airflow to the radiator. Installation does not require moving the factory bumper out of its original position, and a wiring extension lets the winch remote connect while the unit is recessed.

Recessed mount considerations
A recessed winch mount keeps the winch close to the bumper, so the install is about fit and clearance as much as strength. Plan the route for the wiring extension before fitting, and keep it away from the radiator, the cooling fan and any moving parts. Disconnect the battery before working on winch wiring. Because the plate sits inside the bumper opening, check that the winch housing and cable clear the grille and the mounting bolts.
Grade 8 hardware and a steel frame handle loads well, but the winch still needs regular checks. After the first few pulls, inspect the mounting bolts, the winch cable and the remote lead for wear. Keep the remote connection dry and protected, and clear mud from the recessed area so the winch can cool and the cable can spool evenly.
