Matching a sending unit seal
The sending unit gasket sits between the sending unit flange and the fuel tank, and it keeps fuel and vapor from escaping at that joint. Because the gasket is small, a poor fit can look fine at first and still leak once the tank warms and the fuel level changes.
Compare diameter and thickness with the old seal before buying, and check the groove or flange profile on the tank. Some owners replace the gasket when they replace the sending unit itself, since the old seal may have already taken a set. Keep the sealing surface clean and dry during installation.
