Overview
The Key Parts TorqueBox front floor brace, part number 0485-317, is a driver-side replacement brace for the front floor section. It is formed from high gauge steel and coated with an OEM electro-deposit primer (EDP).
It is built to replace rust- or collision-damaged front floor sections, with dimensions sized to match the factory part. Confirm the driver side and front position before comparing it with the installed brace.
Key features
- Driver-side front floor brace
- High gauge steel construction
- OEM electro-deposit primer (EDP) finish
- Direct fit for the front position, per Key Parts
Before you fit the brace
A front floor brace ties the floor pan to the structure around it, so it helps the floor stay rigid under passengers and cargo. When the original brace rusts, the floor can flex, squeak, or let water reach the footwell. Before fitting a replacement, cut back to sound metal, check the surrounding seams for cracks, and treat any exposed bare steel so rust does not start again behind the new part.
Because a brace sits close to the frame rails and floor, plan the work in order. Test-fit the brace against the old mounting points before final welding, and check door and floor alignment after the first fit. If the adjacent floor pan or rocker is also worn, decide on those repairs first so the brace is not forced into a misaligned opening.
- Inspect nearby seams for cracks
- Remove rust to bare metal before fitting
- Test-fit before final welding
- Re-check door alignment after the first fit
