Overview
The G2 Axle and Gear 97-2050-005 is a chromoly inner axle shaft with 27 splines for the driver side of the front Dana 30 axle on 2007–2014 Jeep Wrangler (JK) models.
This front left shaft is the driver-side counterpart for non-Rubicon JKs running the Dana 30 up front. It takes a 5-7166X U-joint and is machined for full circle clips. Driver side swap checks
Driver and passenger inner shafts for the same Dana 30 are separate parts, and the difference is usually in the spline end and the joint location. Before removing anything, mark the side on the old shaft and the joint so you can compare them later. A shaft installed on the wrong side will fit poorly and wear the joint quickly.
Front Wrangler axles see the most strain during tight turns and when a locker engages. Inspect the joint for play and the boot for cracks before reassembling. Check the U-joint against the joint cap for even wear, and replace any part that shows heat discoloration.
