Overview
The Dana Spicer 5-760XC is a 1310WJ series universal joint kit with a blue-coated finish. It is a non-greasable U-joint with an SPL30/1350 outside snap ring, and it is positioned at the front axle at the wheels. It is a direct fit for a range of trucks, SUVs and Jeep models from the early 1980s through the 2000s.
The blue coating is applied over a zinc phosphate cleaning and a high-performance primer, which is designed to resist the elements. The coating is rated at 45 hours in a mud bath.
It is equivalent to SPL 55-3X. Being non-greasable, it has no grease fitting to service.

Blue coating and U-joint service
A universal joint carries torque and angle changes through the driveline every time the truck moves, so the cross and bearing caps wear over time. Once the coating is damaged, rust can spread under the paint and make a joint hard to free. Inspect the joint for play, squeaks and cracked seals, and check the snap rings for seating before reinstalling.
Because this joint is non-greasable, the service path is replacement rather than relubrication. When removing an old joint, clean the yoke bores and check for wear, since a worn yoke can shorten the life of a new joint. Keep driveline angles in mind, and consider replacing the joint at the same time as the other U-joint on that shaft.
