Gooseneck setup basics
A turnoverball gooseneck center section gives a gooseneck trailer a fixed ball in the bed, and the hitch load runs straight into the truck frame. Because the center section carries that weight, the frame bolts and mounting points do much of the work. Look over the frame holes and bolt heads before each install, and replace any bolts that show stretching or rust.
Pin and latch care matters as much as the ball. The spring-loaded locking pin should move freely and seat fully each time. Wipe the ball and coupler surfaces, then check the powder coat for chips that could let moisture reach the steel. A light coat of grease on the ball, applied sparingly, helps it seat and release smoothly.
