Overview
The TeraFlex 4920231 is a heavy-duty offset tie rod end with a left hand thread and a small taper, listed individually. It uses a one-ton joint end and is intended for steering setups that take the small taper.
TeraFlex makes this line in a stock Jeep taper or a large one-ton taper for standard Dana 60 knuckles. The small taper version fits Dana 30 knuckle holes, and the offset helps where differential interference may occur with the tie rod.
Key features
- One-ton joint end
- Offset design for applications where differential interference may occur
- Small taper, matching the stock Jeep taper
- Left hand thread
Steering geometry with offset ends
An offset tie rod end moves the joint away from the centerline of the rod, which can create clearance where the tie rod passes near the differential. Offset ends are often chosen on axles where space is tight, and they change the geometry slightly, so the rod length and toe setting should be checked after installation.
Because the taper, thread and offset all affect fit, compare the new end with the old one before assembly. Heavy-duty joints are often installed with a matching drag link end and new hardware, so inspect those parts while the steering is apart.
- Measure clearance around the differential
- Match taper and thread before assembly
- Replace worn drag link ends at the same time
- Check toe after adjusting the rod length

Vehicle fitment
Match the taper and thread to your axle knuckles before ordering. Dana 30 and Dana 60 are axle types rather than vehicles.
Confirm your vehicle’s year, model and trim before ordering.
Installation notes
Check the taper against your knuckle holes before fitting the rod end, because the large one-ton taper is meant for Dana 60 type knuckles and does not match the small taper.
What’s included
A single left hand thread tie rod end.
