Before you buy
Projector headlights gather light from a lens and reflector to form a tighter beam pattern, and a halo ring adds a visible light outline around the lens. Because the halo is its own lighting circuit, it draws power through the vehicle’s wiring, so the harness and any relay should be checked before the new pair is connected. Clear lenses show the internal reflector more openly than tinted units, which makes a clean lens and a sealed housing more important over time.
When replacing older headlights on a Silverado, Suburban or Tahoe, inspect the mounting tabs, bezel seals and wiring connectors on the removed units. Cracked lenses, hazy plastic and moisture inside the housing are signs that the old assembly was no longer protecting the light source well. Clean the lens with a soft cloth and mild soap, and avoid abrasive pads that scratch the plastic.
