A CV shaft replaces the traditional cardan joint with constant-velocity joints, so the speed of the output stays steady through angle changes. That makes CV shafts popular on lifted rigs, but the joints still need angle limits and clearance. The shaft must match the transfer case output and the axle pinion so the splines and yokes seat cleanly.
Slip yoke eliminators change where the transfer case output sits, which changes shaft length and angles. Once the eliminator is in, check the shaft length in its running position and look for binding at full suspension travel. Inspect the boots and CV grease after the first season of use, and replace any torn boot promptly.
