Description

Overview

The Rubicon Express RE1134 is a set of extreme-duty sway bar disconnects sold as a pair, for lifts from 0 to 6 inches. Each disconnect releases the front sway bar to allow more front axle articulation on challenging obstacles. The heavy duty threaded body is adjustable for different lift heights and for setting the sway bar angle.

The disconnects use a zinc plated snap pin to release the bar and a tapered post with a spherical bushing to reconnect it. No tools are needed for reconnecting. Pre-installed grease fittings support service, and the silver powder coat finish is designed for durability. Check the lift height against the set’s range before installing.

Using disconnects on the trail

A sway bar disconnect lets the front axle move more freely when one wheel rises over an obstacle. With the bar unhooked, each side can travel independently, which helps the tires keep contact on uneven ground. The trade-off is that body roll increases on pavement, so the bar should be reconnected for everyday driving.

Setting the disconnects takes care. Length and angle need to match the lift height so the bushings are not loaded at the wrong angle, and the bar should move freely when reconnected. Greasing the bushings after the install and at regular service intervals helps the joints last, and inspecting the sway bar and its mounts for cracks is worth doing after hard use.

  • Reconnect the bar before highway driving
  • Grease the bushings at regular service
  • Inspect the bar and mounts after hard trail use
  • Check the snap pins for wear before each trip

Vehicle fitment

Verify the year, make and model against your truck before buying, and check that your lift height falls within the 0 to 6 inch range.

The set is sized for a 0 to 6 inch lift range, so confirm the lift height and the vehicle together. Confirm your vehicle’s year, model and trim before ordering.

Installation notes

Set the threaded length for the lift height, then set the sway bar angle before tightening the locknut. Grease the bushings after the install, since the fittings are pre-installed for that purpose.

What’s included

Check the sway bar height, the bushing condition and the bar’s movement after the disconnects are set, then grease the bushings on a regular service interval.

Questions & Answers

Is the RE1134 sold as a pair?

Yes. It is sold as a pair, so one set covers the front sway bar on both sides of the vehicle.

What lift range does the RE1134 cover?

The set covers a 0 to 6 inch lift range. The threaded body is adjustable, so the length can be set for the height you run.

Can the RE1134 be greased?

Yes. The bushings are greasable, and the grease fittings come pre-installed so the joints can be serviced on a regular schedule. Regular greasing helps keep the bushings moving freely.

Should sway bar disconnects be reconnected for everyday driving?

Usually yes. A connected sway bar limits body roll and helps steering response on paved roads. Reconnect the bar before highway driving or daily use, and check the bushings and end links afterward, since loose or worn parts can make the ride feel loose.
