Overview
It is a drop pitman arm for CJ models with power steering. A drop pitman arm reduces steering linkage angles on lifted vehicles. It is recommended for Jeeps with more than 3.5 inches of lift.
It drops the steering linkage by 4 inches and is sold for power steering boxes only.
Key features
- 4-inch drop
- Reduces steering linkage angles
- Power steering boxes only
- Recommended for lifted vehicles above 3.5 inches
Choosing a lift height
Steering linkage angles change as a vehicle is lifted, and the pitman arm is one of the parts that shifts the geometry. A drop pitman arm lowers the linkage so the drag link runs closer to parallel with the track bar and tie rod. Less angle at the joints typically means less binding and more consistent steering on the trail.
A drop arm is usually one part of a steering upgrade rather than a standalone fix. Drag links, tie rod ends and track bars are often inspected or replaced at the same time, especially on a lifted Jeep. After installation, check for steering play, clearance at the frame and tires, and any binding at full lock.
- Check the lift height against the recommended threshold
- Inspect tie rod ends and drag link joints for wear
- Confirm steering clearance at full lock
