Overview
This 22-inch rear brake line is made from stainless steel with a kevlar casing and a Teflon inner hose. It has a thick stainless steel outer casing that rides on a rubber layer.
It is designed for lifted applications from 4 to 6 inches. Mounting brackets come with the line where needed, and it is built to DOT specifications.
Key features
- 22-inch length
- Thick stainless steel outer casing
- Kevlar casing
- Teflon inner hose
- Mounting brackets where necessary
Full-travel clearance
A 22-inch rear line has to allow the axle to move through its full range without pulling at the fittings. Rear suspension movement is the main test of length, since droop stretches the line while compression pushes slack into it. Route the line so it stays clear of the tires, shock mounts, leaf springs and driveline, and recheck clearance after the suspension has settled under the vehicle’s weight. Any spot where the line rubs should be fixed before it wears through.
Rear brake lines are often replaced with the rear brake hose at the caliper and new bracket hardware. Inspect the mounting points for corrosion and damage, because a new line depends on solid mounts. Bleed the rear circuit after installation and test the pedal feel before using the vehicle on rough ground.
- Check clearance through full suspension travel
- Inspect mounting points before reuse
- Recheck after the vehicle settles
