Overview
The Rubicon Express 22 inch rear brake line is a stainless steel rear line for Jeep YJ, CJ and MJ applications. Generation years are given for the 1987 to 1995 Wrangler YJ and the 1986 to 1992 Comanche MJ.
The line has a thick stainless steel outer casing over a rubber casing, a kevlar casing and a Teflon inner hose. It suits lifted applications from 4 to 6 inches.
Key features
- 22-inch length
- Stainless steel outer casing
- Kevlar casing and Teflon inner hose
- Mounting brackets included where necessary
- Built to DOT specifications
- Lifted application range 4 to 6 inches
Older Jeep brake lines
Brake lines on older Jeeps are often the original rubber units, and rubber hardens and cracks with age and heat. Replacing them with a stainless outer braid and a Teflon inner hose is a common step when a vehicle is lifted or driven off road, because the line is less exposed to abrasion and swelling. Any line that is replaced should match the brake system pressure and fittings already in use.
Before fitting, inspect the master cylinder fittings, the junction block and the caliper ends, since a new line will not fix a damaged fitting. Route the line away from the exhaust, frame edges and suspension pivots. After installation, bleed the system and confirm the line does not touch tires or moving parts through the full range of travel.
- Inspect the original fittings before replacing the line
- Keep the line clear of the exhaust and frame edges
- Bleed the system and confirm travel clearance after fitting

The CJ is named in the title but no CJ generation is given, so CJ fitment is not confirmed. Confirm your vehicle’s year, model and trim before ordering.
Installation notes
Always bleed the system after installation and check that the line does not contact tires or moving suspension parts. Also confirm the length gives enough room for full travel.
