Overview
The Rubicon Express JL7141T is a standard lift kit with rear coil springs and twin tube shocks for the 2018–2022 Jeep Wrangler (JL), including two-door and Unlimited four-door models. It is a direct fit under part number R/EJL7141T.
The kit is titled 1.5-inch / 2.5-inch, with a lift height range of 0 to 3.5 inches. It is set to clear 35-inch tires on a loaded non-Rubicon model and 37-inch tires on a Rubicon model. It is an easy-to-install system that improves ride quality and off-road performance. It uses coil springs at the rear and twin tube shocks at both ends, and the shocks are included.
Key features
- Standard-kit lift with rear coil springs
- Twin tube shocks at the front and rear, included
- Lift height range of 0 to 3.5 inches
- Set up to clear 35-inch tires (37-inch on Rubicon models)
- Direct fit for the JL generation
Driveline and steering after a lift
A lift changes the angle of the driveshafts and the geometry of the steering and suspension, so the parts linked to them wear differently afterward. Check the driveshaft angles and U-joints for play after the first drives, and look at the brake lines, sway bar links and track bar for stretch or rubbing. Bump stops are worth checking too, since the ride height has changed.
Alignment is usually needed after a lift, and tire wear can change quickly if the toe is off. Watch the front tires for feathering and the steering for pull or wander. Re-check every suspension fastener after the first few runs, and inspect the shocks for leaks at the seals and mounts over time.
- Inspect U-joints for play
- Check brake line length and routing
- Look for shock leaks at the mounts
