Hardware and torque checks
Clamp hardware carries the load of the lift, so its condition matters as much as the blocks. Check that the U-bolts are straight, the threads are clean and the nuts run down easily before tightening.
Torque should be applied in steps, working across the pair so the blocks seat evenly. After the first few drives, re-check every nut, since new hardware can settle under the weight of the axle and the springs. Loose nuts are the most common early problem with rear lift parts.
Look over the leaf springs at the same time. Cracked leaves, sagging arch or worn bushings are signs the pack may need attention before a lift adds more load. Replacing worn parts at install is often simpler than doing it later.
