Overview
The Omix-ADA 17741.03 is a gas tank vent hose with an 11/16” inside diameter and a 1-1/8” outside diameter, sized for a 15 gallon tank. It works only on CJ8 models with factory steel gas tanks, and it will not work with factory plastic oversized tanks.
The hose is noted as 4 too short for the 1981 CJ8 Scrambler, so that model is excluded. Check your tank type and model year before fitting.

Vent hose and tank pressure
A gas tank vent hose lets air move in and out of the tank as fuel level changes, so pressure does not build up or pull a vacuum. When the vent is blocked, the tank can stiffen, fuel can back up at the filler, and fuel can be forced out at the wrong place. Keeping the vent clear is simple but important on older steel tanks.
Steel and plastic tanks handle venting differently, and a hose sized for one may not suit the other. Look at the tank filler nipple and vent fitting before replacing the hose, and keep the routing clear of pinches and sharp edges. Inspect the hose for cracks or hardening, especially near clamps where heat and moisture collect.
