Planning the open fender install
An open fender flare changes the body edge over the front tire, so the fit depends on how well the base fender is set. Work through the template layout slowly, confirm each mark against the truck before cutting or drilling, and dry fit the parts before adhesive or epoxy goes on. Mistakes at this stage are the hardest to correct later.
Because the flare gives extra tire room, the wheel arch and suspension travel need checking at both ends of the range. Look at brake lines, wiring, and fuel lines near the fender area before drilling, and keep panels clear of the tire. Inspect adhesive joints and fasteners after the first few drives. Touch-up paint on bare edges prevents rust from starting at cut lines.
