Airflow and under hood heat
Hood vents work by letting hot air trapped under the hood escape, which helps when the engine bay soaks up heat after a long drive or a slow climb. On a Wrangler JK, side vents sit near the engine and the air path under the hood, so their effect is most noticeable in traffic or on warm days. Vents do not replace good cooling habits, but they can add to them.
Before fitting any side vent, check the hood’s insulation and make sure it stays fastened as the vents go in. Clean the hood surface first, and keep the template in place until every mark is set. After installation, look for loose trim or a rattle when the hood is closed, and check that no wires or hoses run through the new openings.
