The Crown Automotive 52001215 is a left-hand screw adjuster rear brake adjuster kit for the 1984–1990 Jeep Cherokee (XJ), the 1976–1983 Jeep CJ5, the 1976–1986 Jeep CJ7 and the 1981–1985 Jeep Scrambler. It is a direct-fit part.

How rear brake adjusters work
A screw adjuster sets the clearance between the brake shoes and the drum. As the linings wear, the adjuster is turned to bring the shoes closer, so the pedal stays firm and the parking brake travels correctly. Because the adjuster is part of the rear brake assembly, its condition affects how evenly both sides brake.
When rebuilding the rear brakes, clean and lubricate the adjuster threads so the screw turns freely. A seized adjuster can leave one side dragging or lock the shoes in place, which often shows up as heat at one wheel. Set the shoes by adjusting both sides equally, and check the parking brake lever travel afterward on a level surface.
