Transaxle side service tips
The transaxle side of an axle connects to the transmission output, and the boot on that end seals grease in while the joint moves through its travel. A disc at this end holds grease inside the joint when the axle runs at steep angles. Mark which side each part came from before removal so the transaxle and hub components are kept apart during the job.
Look over the transaxle seal and the surrounding area for leaks before fitting. Fluid on the disc or boot can point to a seal problem that a new disc will not correct. Check the boot for tears, clean the joint thoroughly, and use fresh grease when the joint is repacked so the disc works as intended.
