Description

Overview

The TrakMotive TRMPOL-7042 is an OE replacement front CV axle for the left or right side of 2014–2016 Polaris RZR XP 1000 and RZR XP 4 1000 UTVs. It fits some models in those years.

The axle has a solid chrome steel center shaft rated at up to 20% stronger than OEM. The CV joints are packed with high temperature moly grease and sealed with neoprene rubber dust boots, and the axle is precision machined and heat treated.

The axle arrives fully assembled and is designed for OEM-style fit and function. It covers the front left or right position, so confirm which side you need before ordering.

A CV axle carries power from the transmission out to the wheel hub. The constant velocity joints let the axle keep turning smoothly while the suspension moves and the wheel steers. The neoprene dust boots are there to keep water, mud and sand out of the joints, where the grease stays.

Key features

  • Solid chrome steel center shaft, rated by the manufacturer as up to 20% stronger than OEM
  • Precision machined and heat treated
  • Neoprene rubber dust boots
  • High temperature moly grease in the CV joints
  • Fully assembled with all necessary hardware
  • Front left or right position

Signs of wear and fit checks

The joints in a CV axle are the parts most exposed to mud, sand and water, and they are also the parts that wear first when a boot fails. Grease that has been thrown out onto the wheel or inner hub is an early warning. Once dirt reaches the joint, the metal surfaces wear quickly under load. Small tears are easier to address than a joint that has run dry.

When choosing a replacement, match the side and position first, then compare the joint type and boot style with the old axle. Keep the removed axle for reference during installation, and make sure the hub is clean before the new axle goes in. Tighten all hardware to the torque the machine’s service manual gives.

  • Grease spray inside the wheel
  • Vibration that changes with throttle
  • Clicking or binding at full steering lock
  • Clean the hub before installing

Questions & Answers

Will the TRMPOL-7042 fit a 2016 Polaris RZR XP 1000?

Yes, for some models. The axle covers 2014–2016 RZR XP 1000 models, but only some models are included. Confirm your vehicle's year, model and trim before ordering.

Does the axle come with hardware?

Yes. The axle arrives fully assembled and includes all necessary hardware. It is ready to install once the correct left or right side is confirmed.

How long is the warranty?

The axle carries a one year limited warranty. Keep your purchase record in case you need to make a claim.

What signs suggest a CV axle needs replacing?

Common signs include vibration under throttle, grease on the inside of the wheel and a split or missing dust boot. A joint that binds or feels loose at the wheel also points to wear that should be inspected before the machine is driven hard.

Can a boot be replaced without replacing the whole axle?

Sometimes. Boot kits exist for many CV axles, but a damaged joint or bent shaft usually calls for a full replacement. Inspect the joint for play before deciding, and keep the boot clamps seated correctly.
