Mounting and wiring basics
Auxiliary lights are usually wired through a relay so the switch never carries full bulb current. A 100 watt halogen bulb draws meaningful current, so the fuse and wire gauge matter as much as the light itself. Run the feed through a fuse close to the battery and attach the ground to clean bare metal. Keep the wiring away from moving suspension parts and sharp body edges, and use grommets wherever it passes through sheet metal.
Halogen bulbs run hot, so keep the lens and gasket clear of mud and debris, and check the seal after washing or trail use. Water behind the lens usually means the gasket has worn or the housing has loosened. Halogen bulbs also wear out sooner than LED lights, so carry a spare bulb in the vehicle.
