Overview
The Rubicon Express RE2005 is a pair of rear shock relocators for the Jeep Wrangler (TJ), 1997 to 2006. They bolt onto the rear factory shock bracket to move the shock mounting point.
They bolt to the factory rear shock bracket, so the TJ model and year range must match your vehicle.
Shock mounting and clearance
Relocating a shock mount changes the shock’s angle, its extended length and how far it can travel before it reaches the bump stop. Those changes affect ride height, damping and the amount of wheel travel the suspension can use. Before installing relocators, check the shock’s mounted length and travel at full extension and full compression.
Check clearance around the new mount points, including brake lines, the driveshaft and the spare tire carrier if one is fitted. Inspect the shock eyes and bushings for wear, since a relocated shock loads them differently. A longer or re-valved shock is often chosen to suit a relocated mount, so compare shock options with the new mounting position in mind. Retighten the bolts after the first drives and recheck them periodically.
