Overview
The Rubicon Express RE9103 is a motor mount lift that raises the engine by 1 inch. It corrects driveline angles and improves engine clearance for skid plates.
It has a black polyurethane bushing and a rust resistant coating. It is a universal fit, so the vehicle it suits depends on the mount being replaced.
Key features
- 1-inch engine lift
- Corrects driveline angles
- Improves engine clearance for skid plates
- Black polyurethane bushing
- Rust resistant coating
Checking driveline angles
Engine height directly affects the angle of the driveshafts. When the engine sits lower than it should, the transmission and transfer case angles can change under load, which often shows up as vibration at highway speeds. Raising the engine can bring those angles closer to where the driveline is designed to run.
Lifting the engine also changes its position relative to skid plates and crossmembers. Before and after installation, check how much room remains between the oil pan and the skid plate at full suspension travel. Mounts and brackets should be inspected for any contact or rubbing.
Polyurethane bushings are firmer than rubber and transmit more vibration, so a small amount of added noise is common. Inspect the bushing and coating periodically for cracks, separation or corrosion, especially in areas that see water and mud.
- Check driveline angles with a gauge after install
- Look for vibration at highway speeds as a sign of angle problems
- Inspect bushing and coating for cracks or corrosion
