Overview
The Rubicon Express 6 inch brake line extension and coupler kit adds 6 inches of length to the factory brake lines. The kit includes new front hard line extensions, couplers and the hardware needed to fasten the factory lines to the bottom outside of the frame rail.
The lines are pre-bent for YJ Wrangler applications. The kit is a practical way to add length, and it is generally needed with a lift kit unless the vehicle already has Rubicon Express extended stainless steel flexible brake lines.

Hard lines on a lifted YJ
Hard brake lines carry pressure without flexing, so they are sensitive to vibration and to stress at each bend. When a kit adds length, the new sections need support at the frame and must be kept clear of the suspension arms, shock mounts and steering linkage. Check each clamp and bracket after the first few drives, and look for rubbing marks on the tubing where it meets the frame or a cross member. Small dents or kinks in hard line should be replaced rather than straightened, because a kink can crack under pressure.
The flexible hose at each caliper is where a hard line connects to the moving wheel, so it deserves a look whenever the hard line is serviced. Confirm the connections are tight and free of seepage, bleed the front circuit, and test the pedal before returning the vehicle to regular use.
