Overview
The Power Stop Autospecialty B771 is a rear parking brake shoe set for heavy-duty trucks and SUVs, including the 1999–2004 Ford F-250 Super Duty, 2001–2010 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD, 2001–2005 Dodge Ram 2500 and 2003–2008 Hummer H2. It is sold as a set for two wheels.
Power Stop engineers the Autospecialty line for professional installers, with semi-metallic shoes post cured for more brake power and a shorter break-in.
Key features
- Semi-metallic shoes post cured for quicker break-in
- Precision arc ground to fit the drum
- Black coated new steel resists rust
- Asbestos free and copper free formulas
- Chamfered to stay quiet without chatter
- One set serves two wheels
Heavy-duty parking brake service
Heavy-duty trucks put more load on the rear brakes, so parking brake shoes can wear faster than those on lighter vehicles. Inspect the lining, the adjuster and the cable each time the shoes are changed, and confirm the drum is within its wear limit. A loose or seized adjuster can leave the brake dragging or unable to hold a loaded truck on a grade.
Because the B771 is sold for two wheels, plan to replace both sides together. Use shoes with the same adjuster design on each side, and keep grease off the lining. Before driving, test the parking brake on a slope at low speed to confirm it holds, then adjust it again after a few trips.
- Lining worn near the rivet heads
- Adjuster screw that binds
- Drum grooved from worn shoes
