Overview
The 68003589AA is a parking brake rear shoe and lining kit for the 2007–2018 Jeep Wrangler (JK), in 2-door and 4-door versions. It also fits the 2007–2011 Dodge Nitro and 2008–2011 Jeep Liberty (KJ).

Parking brake upkeep
A parking brake uses the rear shoes to hold the vehicle when parked, so worn linings reduce holding force on an incline. Shoes and linings wear gradually, and the lever may need more travel before it grips. Because the rear brakes do part of the work during normal stops, the parking brake shoes are often replaced only when the lever feels weak or the vehicle does not hold on a slope.
Drums, springs, adjusters and hold-down hardware are usually inspected at the same time as the shoes. Clean the backing plate and check that the adjuster turns freely before fitting new linings. A worn drum can scuff a new lining, so measure it or have it inspected before reassembly.
Test the brake after adjustment on a gentle slope before relying on it.
